Course Overview

Enable your team to achieve their goals and objectives. This unit will enable you to develop your skills in building, developing and supporting your team – leading to goals and objectives being achieved. You will learn how to identify the skills and potential of team members and also seize opportunities to gain new skills and experiences.

You will evaluate team roles and their importance when allocating team members to appropriate tasks in order to achieve objectives. A key factor in a winning team is the team leader. You will have the opportunity to examine the qualities required of an effective leader to ensure that tasks are achieved, while building and developing the team and individuals within it. The unit also focuses on methods for monitoring team performance and approaches for handling poor performance and conflict.
You have the option of choosing just one module.

Aims and Objectives

Characteristics of Teams - Module 1. Do you want to create a winning team? This module will help you do so – it will help you understand the characteristics of teams and also look at the attributes involved in developing a winning team. You will explore the differences between a group and a team; discover the benefits of teams; explore the stages in a team's development. Also built into the learning is the chance to consider the importance of leadership and reflect on the leadership characteristics that make for winning teams.

Team Development - Module 2. Smart managers know they cannot create success on their own. Developing their team must be a key goal of any manager - this module will help you and your team on the road to success.

Performance of Teams - Module 3. Boost your team’s performance. This module will give you invaluable team leadership skills. It will help you monitor and evaluate the performance of your team; evaluate the performance of your team against given criteria such as objectives; and help make recommendations on how to improve performance.
