Pitman Training soars up the Superbrands list

11/06/2008

One of the UK’s oldest training companies has proved that it is still a force to be reckoned with. Pitman Training Group has been placed 370th in the prestigious Sunday Telegraph 2008 Business Superbrands List. The company first achieved Business Superbrand status last year but has moved up more than 100 places in the 2008 list, published in the Sunday Telegraph on Sunday 2nd March.

Pitman Training is one of only 9 ‘executive education, training and development’ organisations to feature in the list of 500 Business Superbrands and one of only a handful of franchises to appear. A Business Superbrand is described as one which has ‘established the finest reputation in its field. It offers customers significant emotional and/or tangible advantages over its competitors…’

“We are absolutely delighted with our new position in the Superbrands list,“ says Claire Lister Managing Director of Pitman Training Group. “To have moved up more than a hundred places is a reflection of how the Pitman Training brand is delivered at a grass roots level by each training centre as well as how it is perceived by the wider business community. Although we are rightly proud of our heritage, Pitman Training is a forward thinking company, committed to ongoing development of great training products, flexible service and a respected brand.”

“As an organisation our focus always remains on delivering local, friendly and accessible training to help people reach their goals and change their lives,” adds Claire. “Our new position on the Superbrands list is a testament to our continued commitment to delivering great training and excellent customer service.”

Pitman Training began with one shorthand school in 1870. Today it is unique in being not only the oldest and longest running training company, but also for having the largest independent network of training centres in the country. Pitman Training offers over 125 courses at almost 100 centres, all geared towards helping people fulfil their career aspirations. Subjects range from basic computing and keyboard skills to advanced secretarial diplomas, accounting and web design.

The accessibility of Pitman Training and its friendly, flexible approach to learning are central to its relationship with customers and have consolidated its Business Superbrand status.

”For a training company to be up there with the likes of IBM and Samsung is such a great reflection on the Pitman Training brand and what we mean to our students. People can make a real difference to their lives through training and education and this is the essence of our brand,” says Claire.

The Superbrands list was established in 1995 and has gone from strength to strength, recognising branding excellence in a wide range of organisations. Thousands of UK Business to Business brands were nominated by independent researchers for inclusion on the 2008 Business Superbrands list and of these 1,500 were selected for a shortlist. It was then over to the independent and voluntary Business Superbrands Council, an impartial body of industry specialists, who individually awarded each brand a score out of ten. At this point the lowest scoring brands were eliminated.

A panel of approximately 1,500 business professionals were then surveyed by YouGov, the UK’s most accurate online research agency. They were asked to vote on the surviving brands, basing their votes on Quality, Reliability and Distinction.
