From Kitchen Assistant to a Career in Event Management
Not every career starts with a clear plan.
For Isobel, it began in a kitchen support role within a busy hospitality environment. While gaining hands-on experience, she realised she wanted more, a career with responsibility, creativity, and long-term progression.
That shift came with the support of her employer, Katherine at Junction 24, who recognised her potential and invested in her development by funding her Event Management Diploma.
Event Management Training That Builds Careers
After exploring several training providers, Isobel chose Pitman Training Taunton for one key reason: the ability to tailor learning around real career goals.
Her Event Management Diploma was designed to give her:
- A strong foundation in event planning and coordination
- Essential administrative and organisational skills
- Practical, job-ready knowledge she could apply immediately
“Pitman gave me a really strong grounding in both the events side of the industry and the admin that goes alongside it.”
Building Confidence and Practical Skills
As she progressed, the change was clear, not just in her skills, but in her confidence.
With consistent support from both her training centre and her employer at Junction 24, she was able to overcome challenges quickly, especially when learning new systems and technical elements.
“Whenever I needed help, someone was there straight away. You’re not just a number, you’re supported as a person.”
That support made a tangible difference.
“I don’t feel so lost anymore. I feel confident in what I’m doing.”
Achieving a Distinction
Isobel completed her Event Management Diploma with a Distinction, reflecting both her commitment and the quality of training.
Her transformation didn’t go unnoticed.
“She went from very shy and unconfident to someone who just flew. We were all incredibly proud.” her employer said.
From Training to Real-World Experience
Today, Isobel works as an Office Assistant at Junction 24, where she is developing her skills in event and wedding management as a trainee.
With ongoing support from her employer, she is gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment, supporting the planning and delivery of events while continuing to build her expertise.

Career Progression in Event Management
Isobel’s ambition is clear, to become a Wedding and Events Coordinator, taking full ownership of events from concept to delivery.
She is still early in that journey, but now has the foundation, support, and direction to get there.
More Than a Qualification
Isobel’s story shows what happens when the right training is matched with the right support.
Employer investment. Practical skills. Real progression.
She didn’t step straight into a senior role, but she moved forward with purpose.
From uncertainty to direction. From learning to doing.
“I would 10 out of 10 recommend Pitman to anyone, no matter their age.”
