From Cleaning to Bookkeeping

Florina wanted to gain Microsoft Office Skills and have options for an administrative or financial career. Her training here at Pitman has opened up the opportunity to work in Bookkeeping, and she is very happy with how things have turned out.

Despite being a graduate, she was doing a cleaning job. She first saw about Pitman online and the website caught her interest. The 180 years’ experience Pitman has in the field of office training gave her confidence to approach Pitman for a consultation.

Florina did the Administrative Assistant Diploma which has provided her with both administrative and financial skills. It has really made her CV stand out and helped her to get her first experience in a new area of work.

She was concerned about studying alone but having a centre nearby gave her the chance to meet other students and have the support. In the centre it was quiet with a good atmosphere and people were all focused on their training.

Florina did most of the office training at home but she came into the centre to access the software for Sage 50 Accounts. Saturday was a great day for her to come into the centre because she worked Monday to Friday.

“I like the way the learning is visual and has audio. It is also practical and the activities and tasks help me see what I know how to do. I like having the workbook to keep and make notes in.”

Florina finished her first two courses quite quickly. She found the courses were well matched to what she needed and at the right level. The course in centre took her longer and she had to push herself a bit to do it. To have completed this elective and have passed the diploma with distinction is fantastic.
