About This Course

This A+ course provides the knowledge and skills necessary for a career in PC support. So, if you’re looking for a career in IT, this course is a great starting point.

The course is broken down into 2 parts and you’ll learn the skills you need to install, repair, upgrade, configure, optimise, troubleshoot – along with undertaking daily maintenance within a busy IT department, retail computer store or tackling home repairs.

It’s an online study course so you can choose where and when you study. If you prefer a structured learning environment you can study in one of our training centres, or you can login from home or work if you prefer to fit study sessions around other commitments.

The course is fully interactive and there are interactive laboratories and access to pre- and post-test questions so you can be confident by the end of the course that you’re ready to go on and undertake the newest A+ examinations (220-1201 and 220-1202).

Aims and Objectives

Ultimately the aim of this A+ training course is to help put you in the perfect position to sit the CompTIA A+ examinations 220-1101 and 220-1102*.

You’ll learn how to install, repair, upgrade, configure, optimise and troubleshoot on PCs and operating system.

During your training you will learn how to install, repair, upgrade, configure, optimise and troubleshoot on PCs and operating systems – essential, valuable skills in demand in the IT industry.

Pre-Requisites

Before starting this course a familiarity with computers and basic computer terminology would be an advantage but no formal IT qualifications are required to be obtained prior to starting this course.

Funding & Grants:

There may be the opportunity to apply for funded grants that can help towards the cost of training. These include the Skills Development Scotland ITAs and the ReAct programme in Wales. All schemes will have different terms and conditions that will need to be met in order to qualify for a grant and these are managed by each individual centre.

Career Path

If you study this A+ training course you will have the ability to work as an IT Professional, maybe as an IT Support Technician, or work on a helpdesk in an IT support department or even start your own business up as a self-employed technician repairing PCs etc.

Further on from this training you could look to specialise in Server Support, Network Support or IT Security. All these options will require additional study to full grasp the technical abilities but could lead to a rewarding career as a Network Support Technician, Server Support Technician or IT Support Manager for example.
