How Richard Successfully Found a New Job After Being Made Redundant

“Having been made redundant after 30 years in plumbing sales, estimating, and purchasing, I decided to improve my skillset with recognised Microsoft qualifications.

Pitman Training was recommended to me by family and friends, (previous students), as a well-known and respectable company. Living in Tonyrefail, I chose to study in Cardiff, with the famous castle and shops nearby, I studied the Microsoft Office Diploma comprising: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Effective Business Communication.

Presuming a daunting learning experience was about to commence, the Cardiff team soon put me at ease. I found the in-centre training was best for me as access to the learning coaches gave me the confidence that I needed to complete all the courses.

As the Covid pandemic forced temporary closures of the centre, disruption was kept to a minimum by the fantastic team via telephone and on-line support.

The courses were interesting, challenging and ultimately rewarding as I passed the Diploma with Distinction, also a further City & Guilds Certificate in Excel Spreadsheets (all arranged by Pitman Training).

I now work for the NHS Shared Services and recall Pitman’s advice:

1. A year from now you will wish you had started today.
2. The best way to predict the future is to create it.”
